Choose The Right Locks

If you own a retail store, it is essential that you use as many locks for as many rooms as possible. For insurance purposes, if your store is burglarized, you will need to establish that there was a forced entry to demonstrate that your store was in fact burglarized. The lock should ideally have 7 pins. A lock with 5 pins or less is much easier for a burglar to bypass. It is also much harder to bypass a deadbolt lock, since other locks can be bypassed by sliding a flexible piece of material between the door.

Locks used in areas that are highly visible may not need to be as impenetrable because an intruder would be much less likely to try to bypass the lock in plain view. Your register always needs to remain locked. If your register holds a large amount of cash, you may want to have the money moved to a safer location after a staff member will no longer be using the register.
